The 'Transformers' actor willingly shaved his hair bald to play an alcoholic and criminal father in an upcoming biopic called 'Honey Boy'.

AceShowbiz - Shia LaBeouf was spotted grabbing a bite in Los Angeles, on Sunday, May 27, with completely shaven head and face. He was first seen grabbing Starbucks and then he headed to a barbershop to clean up his already shaven look. 31-year-old Shia was almost unrecognizable with the new look, given his usual look which consisted of shaggy brown hair and grizzly beard.

So, what's all with the new look? Shia's new hairstyle is for his new role. The "Disturbia" star is set to star in an upcoming biopic called "Honey Boy" directed by Alma Har'el. The film's story revolves around a child actor who attempts to mend his relationship with his alcohol-abusing and law-breaking father over the course of a decade. A story that Shia knows all too well.

According to Variety, the film is based on Shia's personal life experience as "Honey Boy" was Shia's childhood nickname. The movie is reportedly in production at the moment.

Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges, 21, will join the movie to play young Shia while Shia will play the father. Besides them, Maika Monroe, Noah Jupe and Natasha Lyonne are also set to star in the movie.

Recently, the actor opened up about his relationship with his father, Jeffrey LaBeouf, who grew up in San Francisco and was trained as commedia dell'arte clown. Shia also revealed how his father struggled with heroin addiction for years in an interview with Esquire published last March.

Meanwhile, Shia's mother, Shayna, whom he calls "my everything," was raised on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. His mother had to sell barrettes, purses and pins to make money.

Shia then told Esquire how his father and his mother would get into a massive fight. "They loved each other the most when they were creating together," he said. "When they stopped creating, s**t fell apart." His parents divorced when Shia was three years old.
