The late actress' widower Boney Kapoor accepts the award at the ceremony, saying, 'Sridevi would have been very happy today.'

AceShowbiz - Late Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor was posthumously named Best Actress at India's National Film Awards on Thursday, May 03. Her husband and daughters collected the award on her behalf at the ceremony in New Delhi.

Sridevi drowned in a bathtub after losing consciousness during a trip to Dubai to attend a family wedding in February. She was 54.

"Sridevi would have been very happy today," her widower Boney Kapoor told reporters after the awards ceremony. "We miss her. It is a very proud moment at the same time."

She was honoured for her final role as a vigilante avenging her step-daughter's gang rape.

Actor and politician Vinod Khanna was also honoured posthumously following his death last year (17) - he received India's highest film prize, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
