Nicki Minaj has been alarmingly silent on both Twitter and Instagram since the beginning of this year. In addition, the "No Frauds" raptress didn't attend the Grammys and hasn't been seen in public this year as she last uploaded a selfie on Instagram on December 30, 2017.
Nicki's disappearance unsurprisingly drives her fans crazy, leading them to launch a website featuring a clock counting her time away. The front page of FindingNicki.com features a photo of the self-proclaimed Black Barbie with Finding Nicki written, spoofing "Finding Nemo". The clock states that it's been 39 days since the Trinidadian beauty was last seen.
The website was launched by a fan named Nicholas Burrus and his friend Morley. "When [Morley] was over at my house on Friday night, he looked at Nicki's Instagram and showed me that she hadn't posted anything since December 30," Burrus says in a statement to HipHopDX. "He told me something like, 'It's weird. She posts all the time.' I agreed because it was weird how she disappeared ... Disappearances are very unlikely for her."
The Young Money femcee's last Instagram post was a selfie which she left uncaptioned.
Burrus assumes that her silence has something to do with a new project, probably her upcoming fourth studio album. "I think there are many possible places Nicki could be," Burrus said. "The last few months couldn't be easy at all," he explains. "I think she is working on her new album without distractions and taking a much needed break for herself … An absence like this is very unusual for her. I just hope she is doing well!"
In addition, Nicki's concerned fans make a social media campaign to track their idol down. While waiting for Nicki to emerge on social media, a lot of fans express their worry on Twitter.
"Where is @NICKIMINAJ," a fan simply tweets, while another fan says, "no upcoming award show bookings, no music festival bookings, no tweets or sightings in over a month.... WHERE TF IS NICKI MINAJ?"
