"Deadpool 2" gets a new movie poster ahead of the film release in cinemas this coming May. Unveiled by Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds via his Twitter account on Tuesday, February 6, the artwork is inspired by the 1983 hit "Flashdance".

"Take your passion and make it happen," so the 41-year-old Canadian actor writes along with the post, quoting Giorgio Moroder's Oscar-winning title track to the romantic musical drama starring Jennifer Beals and Michael Nouri.

In the picture, Reynolds' Wade Wilson a.k.a. the titular antihero can be seen posing with a chair in an homage to the famous scene from the Adrian Lyne-directed film. The only difference is, instead of water, the Merc with a Mouth is being drenched with a splash of bullets.

"Flashdance" opened to mostly negative reviews, but went on to gross more than $200 million at the box office against its budget of $7 million. In similar fashion, "Deadpool" was an uncertain bet when it opened as an R-rated superhero movie with a $58 million budget, but it grossed more than $700 million at the box office.

"Deadpool 2" is scheduled to be released in theaters across the nation on May 18. Directed by David Leitch from a script written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the sequel also sees the return of Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Stefan Kapicic as the voice of Colossus. Zazie Beetz has joined the cast as Domino, while Josh Brolin is tapped to play Cable.

In the "Deadpool" sequel, after surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste.

Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.
