BTS to Perform on U.S. TV for the First Time at 2017 AMAs

Following the announcement, the seven-piece Korean boyband has also revealed their new Twitter emoji connected to AMAs hashtag.

ABC and Dick Clark Production have announced on Twitter that the popular Korean boyband will make their U.S. TV debut at 2017 American Music Awards, which will be held on November 19. The boys are set to perform "DNA", the lead song off their album "Love Yourself 'Her' ".

Following the announcement, BTS issues a statement saying that they are excited to be invited to the annual award. "We are so excited to be invited to the American Music Awards and to perform on the stage for the first time," they say. "All the members are honored to be on the show with other amazing artists, and we're proud to share this great news with out fans, ARMY."

BTS' fans, known as ARMY, are quick to respond to the news as the announcement tweet has already racked up more than 200,000 likes and 150,000 retweets within a matter of minutes. A fan tweets, "I really can't believe this. Thanks so much @AMAs for inviting @BTS_twt to your show. We all feel so honored, really, thanks a lot."

Their performance at AMAs will be the boys' first time performing on an American awards show since they won Top Social Artist at Billboard Music Awards in May, beating popular names such as Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.

The seven-piece boyband also celebrates their upcoming performance by releasing second Twitter emoji, which is connected to the hashtags #BTSxAMAs and #ARMYxAmas. The design of the emoji is based on BTS' redesigned logo, which was unveiled on July 5 through a video. The design is said to be a symbol of "Youth who don't settle for their current reality and instead open the door and go forward to achieve growth."

Prior to this, BTS is rumored to guest on one of the most popular America TV shows, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". The rumors came after a producer of the show hinted on Twitter that the group would make their appearance on the Emmy-winning show.
