Kim Soo Hyun's fans are treated to new pictures of the star after he enlisted in military earlier this month. In his first photos from military training, the 29-year-old actor sported a buzz cut like other soldiers.
What's different from his usual clean-cut looks is his thin mustache. His facial hair has grown a bit since he began his basic training in Gyeonggi-do, but his fans still adore him. "Looks gorgeous too. Though didn't shave a bit," one commented on the pictures.
Another wrote, "Wow! Your hair extremely short but still you look gorgeous." Another similar comment read, "he still look gorgeous without make up and hair extremely short. His curly bushy hair gone."
Another photo featured the Korean heartthrob sitting in a room among his fellow soldiers. In two other pictures, he wore his military uniform complete with the black beret as he and other soldiers stood outdoor and gave salute.
Soo Hyun enlisted quietly on Monday, October 23. He left a message to his fans on his official Instagram account. "Hello, this is Kim Soo Hyun. I wanted to briefly greet everyone before I enlist. I want to express my gratitude to those who have always supported me. I will return in good health. I hope everyone stays healthy," he wrote along with a plain white image.
In pictures released a few days after his military enlistment, it's revealed that the "Dream High" actor spent his last night before his military enlistment doing what he loves so much, bowling with some of his closest friends. He was joined by his cousin Lee Sa Rang, who directed Soo Hyun's recent movie "Real", and a male friend.
He will undergo basic training for five weeks, before carrying out his service for 21 months. He is set to be discharged on July 22, 2019.
Soo Hyun was initially deemed unfit to serve in the army in 2012 due to a heart-related condition that he had since he was young. But he trained and focused on building his health, and asked to be retested in 2015. He passed with high marks and was deemed fit to qualify.
