Twitter now allows you to express yourself in more than 140 characters. The micro-blogging site has announced that it will be beta testing an increase in character limit. It will allow a small group to tweet up to 280 characters.
"Can't fit your Tweet into 140 characters?" the social media platform tweets. "We're trying something new with a small group, and increasing the character limit to 280! Excited about the possibilities? Read our blog to find out how it all adds up."

"Our research shows us that the character limit is a major cause of frustration for people tweeting in English," the company states in the blog post. "When people don't have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actually have some to spare, we see more people Tweeting--which is awesome!"
The swift, however, receives mixed reactions. While some users love the idea of the expansion, some others think that the change is unnecessary and its current 140 characters is what makes Twitter loved.
Chrissy Teigen is among celebrities who respond to Twitter's character change. Known for her whip-smart, hilarious tweets, the supermodel writes, "Literally my only talent was being able to think of tweets exactly 140 characters long. I don't know if I will be able to alter this to 280." Ellen DeGeneres also makes fun of the character change.

Alyssa Milano, meanwhile, has only one hope: President Donald Trump not being in the selected small group which will experiment with tweeting up to 280 characters. Archie Comics also takes to its account to respond to the planned change in a hilarious way. "If you love longer tweets you'll love Archie Comics because we also have 280 characters and they're always yelling at one another," the account writes.
