Izabela Vidovic is set to play young Kara, taking over from Malina Weissman, while Olivia Nikkanen will replace Jordan Mazarti as young Alex.

AceShowbiz - In the upcoming season 3 of "Supergirl", fans will see different actors playing young versions of Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh). The series has recast the two roles for a flashback-heavy episode titled "Midvale" of the new season.

Izabela Vidovic ("The Fosters") has been tapped to play young Kara, taking over the role which was initially played by Malina Weissman. Malina is starring on Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events".

Meanwhile, young Alex will now be portrayed by Olivia Nikkanen ("The Americans"). Jordan Mazarati previously played the role.

The flashback episode will air as the sixth episode of season 3 and is set to reveal much more about the Danvers sisters. It will follow Kara and Alex as they take a road trip to their childhood home, where they relive a murder mystery from their high school that shaped their relationship as we know it.

"You'll get to see, through the way they interact, how their relationship started when Kara first came to Earth, how it grew, how it became so close and why they're so close nowadays," Melissa told EW of the episode.

Previously, "Riverdale" showrunner took to Twitter to share a photo featuring Melissa in full Supergirl costume hanging out with Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) at Pop's. The EP further teased a crossover between the two shows, though it hasn't been confirmed.

While "Riverdale"/"Supergirl" crossover is unknown, one thing certain is "Supergirl"/"Arrow" crossover this fall. The Girl of Steel will be joining forces with the Emerald Archer in the next major "Arrowverse" four-way crossover. The highly-anticipated two-night event is set to kick off with "Supergirl" on Monday, November 27 at 8 P.M. "Arrow" will follow at 9 P.M.

"The Flash" will be paired with "DC's Legends of Tomorrow". "The Flash" will conclude the crossover on Tuesday, November 28 at 8 P.M. and it would be followed by "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" at 9 P.M. "Arrow" would not air on Thursday that week.

"Supergirl" will return for season 3 on Monday, October 9 at 8 P.M. on The CW.
