The Weeknd canceled his private concert just minutes before it began on Friday night, August 25. The "Starboy" hitmaker was due to perform a show in Downtown LA as part of a celebration of the 20th anniversary of high-end vodka, Grey Goose.

However, after hundreds of people showed up the event which was held at the edgy Werkartz warehouse, they were turned away and told that the much-hyped party featuring Selena Gomez's boyfriend had been canceled.

"I showed up and like 30 girls attacked my Uber," a guest told Page Six, "There were all these hot girls standing around all dressed up and staff were carrying crates of Grey Goose out of the building. What a s**t show."

According to sources, there had been a problem with permits and that the fire marshall closed the party down before it even started. A partygoer claimed that event organizers sent out an email half an hour before it was due to begin, announcing the cancellation and blaming "production issues."

A representative for Grey Goose said in a statement, "Due to unforeseen production issues, tonight's event has been canceled. That said, Grey Goose and The Weeknd will be back together soon - bigger and better!"

The Weeknd's spokeperson hasn't responded to a request for comment. He is set to perform along with Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ed Sheeran, Fifth Harmony, Lorde, Shawn Mendes and 30 Seconds to Mars at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards, which will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, California, on August 27 at 8 P.M. ET. The "Can't Feel My Face" singer scores five nods and will compete against Lorde and Ed for Artist of the Year.
