TV

The Queen asserts her power while the Prime Minister's resignation and her family issues bring relentlessness into her life.

Claire Foy is back as Queen Elizabeth II in the newly released teaser for "The Crown" season 2. After following her ascension to the throne in the first season, the second season of the biographical drama will see the Queen of the U.K. dealing with crumbling empire and her family issues.

"I've learned more about humiliation in the past few weeks than I hoped I would in a lifetime," she says in the video. As Prince Philip (Matt Smith) notes, the Prime Minister's resignation, her family and the country issues have brought relentlessness into her life. And it doesn't help that her husband is often away from her.

In a release, Netflix says "the second season bears witness to the end of the age of deference, and ushers in the revolutionary era of the 1960s." As Queen Elizabeth's marriage and empire crumbles around her, she must do what is required to ensure the British monarchy survives.

It will feature "Dexter" alum Michael C. Hall as John F. Kennedy, Jodi Balfour as Jaqueline Kennedy, "The Good Wife" vet Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones, a society photographer and love interest for Princess Margaret, and Anton Lesser as Prime Minister Harold Macmillian.

It will premiere December 8 on Netflix.
