Ariana Grande becomes the honorary citizen of Manchester. The 24-year-old singer from Boca Raton, Florida was recognized for her benefit concert to raise funds benefitting victims and the families affected by the deadly bombing back in May.

Family members of some of the victims were at the city's town hall when the motion was passed by councilors. The council leader, Sir Richard Leese, called Grande "a young American woman for whom it would have been understandable if she never wanted to see this place again."

"But no - instead she, as an artist, a performer, was determined that she would not perform again until she had returned to Manchester to perform," he said. "In doing so, she brought comfort to thousands, she raised millions for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund and became the first patron of that fund. And that's why I propose that Ariana Grande is made the first honorary citizen of the city of Manchester."

The "Dangerous Woman" singer returned to Manchester a week after the terrorist attack that happened outside her concert venue. She visited young patients at children's hospital and held a benefit concert featuring Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Coldplay and many more. She raised an estimated $13 million for the charity.
