Will Kirsten Dunst Return for 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle?'

Dunst starred in the original 'Jumanji' back in 1995 and people wonder whether she will return for the reboot.

AceShowbiz - Back in 1995, Kirsten Dunst starred in the original "Jumanji" which led her to stardom, but will she return for "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle"? In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dunst says that she definitely wants to return for the reboot.

Unfortunately, no one has asked her for that. She admits that she doesn't even know there will be a "Jumanji" remake. "I honestly didn't even know they were making a 'Jumanji' movie. I'm offended I haven't been reached out to be in it!" she says jokingly.

However, Dunst will gladly return should the remake need her to make a cameo. "That'd be fun. I would definitely do something in that if they wanted me to," says Dunst.

The 1995 "Jumanji" centered on "a magical board game unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter (Bradley Pierce) and Judy Shepherd (Dunst)." The movie, which also starred late Robin Williams, made a success at box office and gained $260 million globally.

"Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle", meanwhile, will focus on a video game which traps its players, instead of centering on a magical board game. Starring in the reboot are Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and Karen Gillan.

While many people assume that "Welcome to the Jungle" is a reboot, director Jake Kasdan considers it a sequel to the 1995 movie instead. " 'Jumanji' is the kind of movie that I think people shouldn't out-and-out remake," said Kasdan. "To me, a big part of its power is in the unique elements of its original execution. Within that, I think there's this central idea and mythology that's mysterious, but powerful, and commands a powerful part of the imagination," he added.
