Ariel Winter Clarifies Statement About Living With Much Older Boyfriend

The 'Modern Family' actress says that she isn't hitting back at anyone who think that her 29-year-old boyfriend Levi Meaden is too old for her.

AceShowbiz - Ariel Winter is happy with her relationship with Levi Meaden, who is 10 years older than her, and she doesn't need to defend that. The 19-year-old actress recently responded to criticism that her 29-year-old boyfriend is too old for her, following her appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on which she revealed that they're now living together.

"I'm happy, and whatever people want to say, they can say," she told Refinery29. "I don't understand why someone would even comment on our situation at all. There are tons of people of all ages that live with their boyfriend. There are tons of people that live with their girlfriends, [and] tons of people that don't live together and are super happy. But I'm super happy in the arrangement that we have. We love living together. It's just great."

But Ariel claims she didn't mean to hit back at the critics with the statement. In a post shared on Instagram on Wednesday, May 31, she says that people drew a wrong conclusion from the interview and should've paid more attention on the body confidence issue instead.

"Y'all I love you but PLEASE pay attention and post my REAL point from my @refinery29 interview!!! Not that I'm 'defending living with my 29 year old boyfriend' or that I'm 'firing back at Trump' because first of all I don't need to defend anything I'm super happy and in love, and I'm not firing at anyone just sharing an opinion after being ASKED!" she says in the lengthy message.

"The point was to take back the beach and help people understand that the beach should be a safe space to go as you please and feel good about yourself no matter what! Makeup on, makeup off, heels, sandals, covered up, exposed, do you and feel HAPPY about who you are and YOUR choices, not the ones society wants us to choose," she continues.

"Body positivity is important- not that I live with my boyfriend. Press- please read the article and take it for what it is- not what will give you more readers! Let's all be real and represent people how they want to be represented through what they actually say. Rant over. Love yourselves, love others, be yourselves, and be happy. Xo," she concludes it.

In the interview with Refinery29, the "Modern Family" actress also talked about the importance of women empowerment in the Trump era. "Our leadership is really anti-women right now," she said. "Thanks to Donald Trump, we're being objectified and made to feel bad about ourselves, so I think it's really important for women to stick together and do the opposite of that; to let their bodies be seen and be heard, and to empower each other; to remind each other that what they look like is not the only thing that's important when it comes to who they are."
