Jeremy Renner is on board to portray Old West figure John "Doc" Holliday in biopic. The movie will be produced by Renner alongside PalmStar's Kevin Frakes and Don Handfield. PalmStar has picked up the rights of two Mary Doria Russell's novels titled "Doc" and "Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral", from which the biopic may be based on.

Doc Holliday is a dentist from Atlanta who turned to be a Wild West gunfighter and befriended an American Old West gambler named Wyatt Earp. Several actors, who include Kirk Douglas, Adam West, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer and Dennis Quaid, portrayed the iconic gunslinger in the past.

"We are excited to re-introduce this classic American character to a whole new audience by chronicling Doc Holliday's incredible transformation from Average Joe dentist to a man who Wyatt Earp called the 'nerviest, speediest, deadliest man with a six-gun [he] ever knew, ' " Renner and Handfield said in a joint statement. Frakes later added, "Jeremy Renner as Doc Holliday...f**king awesome."

Renner was last seen in critically acclaimed "Arrival" in 2016. He also played Clint Barton/Hawkeye in "Captain America: Civil War". Renner's upcoming movies include "Wind River", "Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad" and "Tag". He will reprise his role as Hawkeye in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War".
