After teasing all weekend that she might release a surprise project on Tidal, Nicki Minaj finally revealed the surprise in a form of a dazzling new video for her single "Regret in Your Tears". The clip is, unsurprisingly, a Tidal exclusive which is directed by two famous photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
With hauntingly beautiful imagery, the clip follows Nicki in her journey of fairy tale and eroticism. In one scene, she lies on a bed with a handsome model. Sporting black and gold bra, she flaunts generous amount of cleavage as she reenacts raunchy scenes with her onscreen lover in a flooded bedroom. Elsewhere in the video, the "Anaconda" rapper wears a long and flowing robe while she delivers her verses above aqueous kingdom.
From magnificent underwater setting to sexy bedroom scenes, the video captures the heartbreak and somber vibes of the song. Nicki described the song as her "favorite song of all time," and it is believed to be inspired by her past relationship with Meek Mill. "Regret in your tears, now you taste 'em/ 'Cause you know I don't chase, I replace 'em," Nicki sings on the chorus. "I just want the memories, tried to make some with you/ Now I gotta erase some with you."
The clip is the follow-up to music video for "No Frauds" ft. Drake and Lil Wayne. "No Frauds" and "Regret in Your Tears", along with "Changed It" ft. Wayne, are Nicki's solo tracks which were released last March. There have been speculations about the tracks being featured on Nicki's upcoming album, but the Trinidadian-born rapper hasn't given any confirmation.
