Serena Williams looked beaming when making her first public appearance at the 2017 Met Gala since accidentally announcing her pregnancy nearly two weeks ago. The 35-year-old tennis star debuted her growing baby bump at the event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 1 in N.Y.C.
Serena arrived at the event in a gorgeous, beaded emerald green Versace gown which showcased her burgeoning belly and featured a plunging neckline. The pregnant athlete was accompanied by her fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who suited up for a dapper look at the elite fashion gathering.
Last month, Serena accidentally revealed via Snapchat that she's expecting her first child with her 34-year-old soon-to-be husband. "I have this thing where I've been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I'm getting," she said at Ted Talks in Vancouver.
She added, "I've been just saving it, and you know how social media is - you press the wrong button and... My phone doesn't ring that much, and 30 minutes later, I'd missed four calls, and I'm like, 'That's weird.' And then I picked it up and I was like, 'Oh no.' "
Serena, who is more than 21 weeks pregnant, is taking maternity leave, but will be back on the court next year.
