Hours before the Washington's elite attended the official White House Correspondents' Dinner, Samantha Bee launched a special episode for the Saturday, April 29 episode of "Full Front with Samantha Bee" to celebrate the annual event, which President Donald Trump chose not to attend. Titled "Not White House Correspondents' Dinner", the late-night host roasted the president and his administration as well as brought back Will Ferrell's famed impersonation of the former President George W. Bush.

Will's Bush opened the skit as he teased, "How do you like me now?" The fake Bush continued, "History's proven to be kinder to me than many of you thought." He later admitted that he "never liked" the press and even dubbed his relationship with the press "sometimes strained, contentious."

Of the press, he went on explaining, "You guys would always sneak up on me with 'gotcha' questions like, 'Why are we going to war? Gotcha!' 'Why did you not respond to Hurricane Katrina? Gotcha!' 'What is your middle name? Gotcha!' " The fake former POTUS then took a subtle jab at the current POTUS, "I just wish someone had told me that all you have to say is 'fake news' over and over again, that could be your answer to anything."

For her own entrance, Sam Bee brought a group of female rockers to light up energy on the set. She immediately roasted Ivanka Trump by naming her "the executive vice president of American revolution" and "the assistant to the president of the American revolution," as well as addressing Ivanka's recent bad press in Germany.

She later turned the spotlight back over the press. "You dig up misdeeds and frauds by the powerful. You expose injustice against the weak, and you continue to fact-check the President as if he might someday get embarrassed," she praised the journalist both among the audience and at home before toasting their work.

Also joining the special episode was Emmy-winning actress Allison Janney. In the cold open, she repraised her role as White House Secretary C.J. Cregg on "The West Wing". She addressed many of the recent issues, starting from Breitbart bloggers to Skype reporters.

During the hour-long show, a special parody of Amazon's "The Man in the High Castle" was also shown, featuring George Takei. In the parody, Bee received a film reel from a frightened George. The film reel later turned out to be a video of an alternate timeline in which Hillary Clinton won the election in November, instead of Donald Trump. Sam cried in happiness while watching the video before watching herself hosting the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
