Just like Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Waititi's Korg will be the prisoner of Sakaar and both characters will befriend each other.

AceShowbiz - Director Taika Waititi has revealed that he will appear in the upcoming "Thor: Ragnarok". During media outlets' visit to Marvel Studios offices in Burbank, Waititi confirmed that he would play a character named Korg in the "Thor" threqueel. The character is a giant stone man who will be the prisoner of Sakaar. Interestingly, both him and Chris Hemsworth's Thor will make friends during their layover in the planet.

A sneak peek previewed during the visit reportedly featured Waititi's Korg and Thor's first meeting, in which Korg revealed why he became a prisoner. "I tried to start a revolution, but I didn't bring enough pamphlets," said Korg.

Of his portrayal as Korg, Waititi jokingly said, "Obviously, being made of rocks, we wanted somebody like The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] to play him, but there wasn't enough chicken or salmon in Australia to sustain he and Chris." He added, "I never thought I'd be playing the most lovable character in the film."

Waititi later suggested that he wanted to try a new take on the character. "We wanted to change the idea of what a hulking guy made of rocks could be. He's huge and heavy, but with a light soul. We wanted to make him funny and a relatable entry point into this world. And Thor needs friends," the director explained.

In Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok", Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok-the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization-at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger-the Incredible Hulk!

Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner a.k.a. Hulk in "Ragnarok". Tom Hiddleston is the second lead actor and reprising his role as Loki, while Cate Blanchett will play villain Hela. Jeff Goldblum will portray Grandmaster and Tessa Thompson is featured as Valkyrie. It has been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will make a cameo as Doctor Strange, but how Strange will be involved in the movie is still kept under wraps.

"Thor: Ragnarok" will be the third movie set in Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, scheduled after "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" and "Spider-Man: Homecoming". The "Thor" threequel is set to be released on November 3.
