AceShowbiz - %cCharlie Murphy%, a comedian and the brother of %cEddie Murphy%, passed away on April 12 after battling with leukimia. His death was a shock to his family because they believed he was getting better. TMZ reported that before Charlie's death, his family would call him frequently and he'd joke that they called too much.
Eddie and his family released a statement shortly after, expressing their grief and hoping for privacy during this hard time. "Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie," the statement read. "Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won't be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us."
The comedian was best known for his skits on "Chappelle's Show", in which he played %cRick James% and %cPrince%. He co-wrote some of Eddie's movies like "Norbit" and "Vampire in Brooklyn" as well as co-starred in "Are We There Yet?", "The Boondocks" and "Black Jesus". Prior to his death, Charlie recently toured with %cCedric The Entertainer%, %cEddie Griffin%, %cGeorge Lopez% and %cD.L. Hughley% on "The Comedy Get Down".
The Murphy family isn't the only one mourning. Many celebrities are saddened by Charlie's sudden death as expressed in their posts on social media. %cChris Rock% tweeted a few hours after his death, "We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time. Charlie Murphy RIP."

%cIce Cube% wrote, "Damn, sorry to hear about my friend Charlie Murphy. He took a chance on a young director in 'The Player's Club'. Always made me laugh. RIP." Other celebrities like %cWendy Williams%, %cKevin Hart% and %cRussell Simmons% expressed their shock and sadness on Twitter as well.
