The 'White Queen' actress signs up to play a character who will have an enormous impact on the titular character's life.

AceShowbiz - "Marvel's Jessica Jones" is adding a two-time Oscar nominee and Broadway vet to its cast for season 2. Janet McTeer, who won the Tony Award, the Olivier Award and the Drama Desk Award for her role in "A Doll's House", joins the Netflix series for its upcoming installment.

McTeer reportedly will have a crucial role on the show, but details of her character are kept under wraps, except for the little tidbit saying that she "will have an enormous impact on Jessica's (Krysten Ritter) life."

"We are so fortunate to have an actress of Janet's talent and stature join what is already an incredible cast," says Marvel's Head of Television and Executive Producer, Jeph Loeb. "Our second season of 'Marvel's Jessica Jones' aims to capture what audiences loved about our first, and Janet will be key to achieving that goal."

Series creator Melissa Rosenberg adds, "We couldn't possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we're trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We're incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her."

McTeer won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role on "The White Queen". Her other TV credits include "Battle Creek" and "The Honorable Woman".

Before returning in season 2 of "Jessica Jones", Ritter's heroine character will appear alongside other Marvel heroes on "Marvel's The Defenders" which is set to premiere August 18 on Netflix.
