"Riverdale" is here to stay. The CW has given the rookie drama series a vote of confidence, ordering a second season of it while the show is halfway into its freshman run. It joins "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supergirl", "DC's Legends of Tomorrow", "Supernatural", "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Jane the Virgin" which have all received early renewals.
Ross Butler, who recurs as Reggie Mantle on the series, expresses his excitement about the renewal by tweeting, "#Riverdale picked up for a second season! Thanks for tuning in everyone, were all so excited to keep it rollin!" along with a photo of the cast at dinner.

" 'Riverdale' offers an amusingly self-aware reimagining of its classic source material that proves eerie, odd, daring, and above all addictive," the site raves about the show.
It debuted to 1.4 million viewers in January and has been averaging 1.2 million viewers weekly, making it the network's No. 2 non-superhero series, just behind "Supernatural".
