Affleck has taken to his Twitter account to welcome Reeves and share an image of himself wearing Batman's cape, suggesting that he will still portray Batman despite reports.

Warner Bros. finally confirms that Matt Reeves will direct "The Batman". The studio's President and Chief Content Officer Tony Emmerich made a press release along with Reeves on Thursday, February 23 to announce the matter. Thus, the press release ends the speculation about whether or not Reeves will direct the movie.
Emmerich said in a statement, "We are thrilled to have Matt Reeves taking the helm of 'Batman', the crown jewel of our DC slate. Matt's deep roots in genre films and his evolution into an emotional world-building director make him the perfect filmmaker to guide the Dark Knight through this next journey."
Reeves, who also helms "War for the Planet of the Apes", expressed his excitement of being a part of "The Batman" team. "I have loved the Batman story since I was a child," he said. "He is such an iconic and compelling character, and one that resonates with me deeply. I am incredibly honored and excited to be working with Warner Bros. to bring an epic and emotional new take on the Caped Crusader to the big screen," Reeves added.
There was no mention of Ben Affleck's name in the press release, which prompted more questions about Affleck's future involvement in "The Batman". The speculation stemmed from recent report that Affleck didn't want to play Batman anymore.
However, Affleck has taken to his Twitter account to welcome Reeves in "the Batcave." His tweet, which comes along with an image of himself wearing Batman's cape, suggests that he is still in the Batcave himself and will keep portraying the Caped Crusader.

Although "The Batman" hasn't had a release date yet, it reportedly will begin filming this spring.
