Robert Pattinson, the actor behind the mask of the new Batman, weighs in on the delays that plagued the second movie as he's eager to once again dawn the cape and cowl.

AceShowbiz - Robert Pattinson has been vocal about his excitement - and impatience - to begin filming for "The Batman II." In an interview with Hero Magazine, while speaking to his "Mickey 17" co-star Naomi Ackie, he expressed his eagerness to reprise his role.

"I f***ing hope so," he said when asked about playing Batman again, highlighting the lengthy gap between films. "I started out as young Batman and I'm going to be f***ing old Batman by the sequel… I'm 38, I'm old." However, he optimistically added, "I think I've actually brought my biological age down a bit."

The first installment, "The Batman," hit theaters in 2022, receiving widespread acclaim and raking in $772 million globally. Despite the success, fans were disappointed when the sequel's release was delayed from October 2026 to October 2027.

Co-chief of DC Studios, James Gunn, defended the long wait by pointing out that extensive gaps between sequels are not uncommon. Citing examples like "Aliens" and "Avatar," Gunn emphasized that quality filmmaking takes time.

"Matt [Reeves] is committed to making the best film he possibly can," Gunn explained on social media. "Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting, and post-production on big films."

Meanwhile, Matt Reeves, the director behind the Batman reboot, is fervently working on the script. Although he's yet to submit the full script, its current state is "incredibly encouraging," according to DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran. R

Reeves shared insights during an interview with SFX magazine about the direction for the sequel, stating that "The Batman II" will explore deeper corruption and expand the universe laid out in the first film. He also confirmed that Colin Farrell's character, The Penguin, will play a significant role leading to the sequel.

Robert Pattinson, while tight-lipped on plot specifics, teased Deadline at the London premiere of "Mickey 17," saying the upcoming movie has a "cool" story.

With Reeves' attention to detail and commitment to crafting a compelling story, paired with Pattinson's enthusiasm, the wait for "The Batman II" seems justified. As Pattinson transitions from young to an older, perhaps wiser Batman, viewers can expect a richer, more profound narrative that reflects his journey both on and off-screen.
