USA Network's hit series "Suits" is getting a spin-off. Gina Torres, the actress who portrayed Jessica Pearson during the six seasons of the legal drama, will be the center of the spin-off. The potential Jessica Pearson drama is quietly underproduction, TVLine has reported.
The Jessica-centered drama is reportedly going to be written by "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh. Meanwhile, neither confirming nor denying the news, a Universal Cable Production's spokesperson said, "The 'Suits' team is currently focused on the remaining episodes of season 6 and what's next for characters when they return in season 7."
Gina's last appearance was in season six summer finale. In that episode, Jessica decided to go to Chicago to be with her love, Jeff (DB Woodside), before getting killed by the father of the victim in the pro-bono case she was working on.
The actress made the decision to leave the show due to the filming location in Toronto that was way too far from Los Angeles. She said, "[It was] necessary to get back to my life and all the very important things that being on location in Toronto made very difficult to manage."
However, back in September, the actress said, "I don't believe for one second it's the last we'll see of Jessica Pearson." The actress added, "Not. For. One. Second. And don't you either."
"Suits" returns with season six finale on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 P.M. ET on USA Network.
