Nicole Kidman has optioned Janice Y.K. Lee's best-selling novel "The Expatriates" to be adapted as a television series. The actress and her Blossom Films partner Per Saari will executive produce the adaptation alongside Theresa Park from POW! Productions. "Suburban Mayhem" screenwriter Alice Bell will pen the adaptation while Lee will serve as a consulting producer. Kidman will possibly star on the adaptation, Deadline has reported.

"The Expatriates" follows Mercy, a young Korean American and recent Columbia graduate, who is adrift and undone by a terrible incident in her recent past. Meanwhile, a wealthy housewife named Hilary is haunted by her struggle to have a child as something she believes could save her foundering marriage. Margaret, once a happily married mother of three, questions her maternal identity in the wake of a shattering loss. As each woman struggles with her own demons, their lives collide in ways that have irreversible consequences for them all.

Kidman and her Blossom Films have recently adapted Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel "Big Little Lies" into a limited series of the same name. The seven-episode series tells the story of three kindergartners' mothers, Jane (Shailene Woodley), Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Celeste (Kidman), whose apparently perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. The dark comedy will premiere on Sunday, February 19 at 9 P.M. ET on HBO.

Blossom Films is also adapting Moriarty's new novel "Truly Madly Guilty" for the big screen. Additionally, the company is developing numerous feature adaptations including "The Silent Wife", "Reconstructing Amelia" and "Cuddles". Blossoms' feature credits also include "Rabbit Hole", "The Family Fang" and "Monte Carlo".
