The estate of the murdered YouTube star is now seeking more than $20 million 'in back royalties and other damages' for using the late artist's vocals without permission.

The estate of New Orleans YouTube artist Messy Mya filed a lawsuit against Beyonce Knowles for illegally sampling the late artist's vocals on her hit song "Formation". As a result, the estate is now seeking more than $20 million "in back royalties and other damages" for its usage.
"What happened after New Orleans?" and "B***h, I'm back by popular demand", which come from Mya's 2010 viral video "Booking the H**s From New Wildin", are the opening samples of "Formation". According to TMZ, the estate claimed that they'd reached out to the singer to address the issue, but she reportedly ignored them. Bey's representatives have yet to comment on the accusation.
The accusation comes on the heels of Beyonce's pregnancy announcement. Last week, the 35-year-old diva surprised the world when she announced on Instagram that she's having twins. "We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over," so she wrote. "We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters."
Bey will reportedly perform at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 12 as she was spotted rehearsing at a secret location in Los Angeles with a glam squad, camera crew and her team of dancers all in tow. She is also set to headline Coachella this April despite the fact that she will be on her third trimester when the music gig runs.
