Mel Gibson has welcomed a new addition to his family. A rep for the 60-year-old actor/filmmaker has confirmed to PEOPLE that he welcomed his ninth child, but his first with girlfriend of two years Rosalind Ross, on Saturday, January 21 in Los Angeles.
Gibson's rep revealed Ross gave birth to a son. Named Lars Gerard, the youngest Gibson member's weight at birth was 5 pounds and 5 ounces. A source says, "They're thrilled and Lars is adorable. Their family is all around them and Mel is over the moon. They're home and everybody is healthy and happy!"
Gibson and her 26-year-old girlfriend confirmed the pregnancy news in September. A friend close to the couple said, "Mel loves being a dad, and he and Rose can't wait to be parents together. The last two years have been some of his happiest years he's ever had."
Gibson shares seven children with ex-wife Robyn Moore, to whom he was married for 26 years. The "Hacksaw Ridge" director has one daughter from his relationship with Russian pianist Oksana Grigorieva.
