Britney's manager confirms that the 35-year-old singer is 'fine and well' after she was falsely rumored to be dead.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears is not dead. Contrary to the false rumors, the southern belle is alive and well. The 35-year-old singer falls victim to death hoax after hacker(s) gained access to the Twitter account of Sony Music Global and posted the false story, but her representative quickly puts a stop to it.

"Britney Spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon," read a tweet from Sony. "Rest in peace, Britney Spears." The death hoax quickly spread like wildfire on December 26. #RIPBritney started trending and there were even condolences from Bob Dylan's Twitter before it was quickly deleted.

"I assume their account has been hacked," Adam Leber, Britney's manager, told CNN. "I haven't spoken to anyone ... as of yet but I am certain their account was hacked. Britney is fine and well. There have been a few Internet clowns over the years who have made similar claims about her death, but never from the official Sony Music Twitter account."

Another Sony tweet which has also been removed read, "We saw a new IP logged in to the account a few minutes ago and the tweet is posted by a new IP so @britneyspears is still alive #OurMine."

Britney herself, while not directly addressing the death hoax, has seemed to respond to it with a cheeky post. "Don't underestimate the power of Charlie's," she quipped.
