The 'Heartbreaker' songstress has been writing some new 'heartbreak ballads' following her messy breakup with her billionaire fiance, according to a source.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey is gearing up for a breakup album in the wake of her bitter split from James Packer. According to a source, the "We Belong Together" hitmaker has been writing some new "heartbreak ballads."
"[Mariah] has been putting all her pain into a new album," the source tells Us Weekly, "She wants it to have the big heartbreak ballads she's famous for."
Mariah has enlisted the help of Jermaine Dupri, who co-produced her 2005 album "The Emancipation of Mimi". She shared a photo of them in the recording studio back in July. "They want to re-create that vibe," says the source, "She wants to duplicate her old success."
According to the source, James "was like Jekyll and Hyde" during his relationship with Mariah. He flipped a switch while the couple was planning their wedding onboard his yacht during their recent Greece vacay. "Suddenly he's like, 'I don't think I can do this,' " adds the source.
Another insider reveals Mariah feels James is sabotaging her favorite time of the year, Christmas, as the exes have come to a standstill regarding financial negotiations. "[Packer] is causing Mariah severe emotional distress especially at such an important time of her life," the insider tells ET, "He knows she is the queen of the holiday season and she knows he's trying to ruin it for her."
Mariah and James are fighting over her $10 million engagement ring, her Los Angeles-area housing, and her upcoming reality show "Mariah's World". "His lawyers have tried to get the ring back," the source claims, "They're insisting she give it back... She doesn't want to give it back."
The "All I Want for Christmas Is You" hitmaker showed off her engagement ring on Instagram on Thursday night.
As for the Calabasas mansion Mariah and James leased together, the source says, "He left her with a pile of expenses. He abandoned her with a house full of staff and had to pay for that security."
