J.K. Rowling Confirms There Will Be Five 'Fantastic Beasts' Movies
Movie

The British author says that the upcoming 'Harry Potter' spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' will be followed by four more movies.

AceShowbiz - J.K. Rowling announces that the "Fantastic Beasts" movie franchise, previously planned as a trilogy, will span five movies. During a Facebook Live Global Fan Event, the author has confirmed that the upcoming "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be followed by four more movies.

"[Director David Yates] has told you that we do tell about Dumbledore and Grindelwald [in the movie]," Rowling says. "I can say one thing. We were doing some script sessions the other day, and I can tell you that we always knew it was going to be more than one movie."

"We knew that from the start. So, we set a trilogy as a sort of placeholder, because we knew there would be more than one movie," she adds. "But we've now, I've now done the plotting properly, so we're pretty sure it's going to be five movies."

The 51-year-old British writer also posts a series of tweets to clarify that she doesn't mean the series will run a minimum of five movies, adding that she's almost done writing the script for the second movie.

The first "Fantastic Beasts" movie starring Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Colin Farrell is coming to U.S. theaters on November 18. The two-previously-announced sequels will follow on November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020 respectively.
