Legal drama involving Jim Carrey and his ex-girlfriend's estranged husband Mark Burton continues. The actor/comedian, who's being sued over his former lover Cathriona White's suicide, recently had his team release some pictures in attempt to prove that her marriage to Burton was fake.
The photos obtained by TMZ were pretty normal, showing Carrey and his then-girlfriend White kissing and cozying up to each other during a romantic dinner. The problem is, the pictures were taken on February 14, 2013, only a month after the Irish beauty tied the knot with Burton.
Their pair got married on January 15, 2013 after White asked Carrey and four other men to marry her so she could avoid deportation, claimed the 54-year-old star's team and witnesses. White and Burton reportedly didn't even live in the same state at the time.
Carrey's lawyer Martin Singer said the photos couldn't support Burton's claim that he suffered "loss of companionship" when White took her own life in September 2015 after the actor gave him multiple STDs and dumped her.
Burton filed the wrongful death lawsuit against Carrey earlier this month. He first accused the star of helping provide White the prescription drugs that killed her. Later, he claimed that Carrey gave White Herpes Type I, Herpes Type 2 and Gonorrhea before he broke up with her. Because of the disease, White felt like "damaged goods" and then committed suicide.
