John Oliver Isn't Excited About His Emmy Win and Beyonce Is to Blame for It

The talk show host, who won an Emmy for his 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver', hilariously expressed disappointment after he failed to meet Queen Bey at the Sunday night ceremony.

AceShowbiz - John Oliver had a pretty big night at the 2016 Emmy Awards. The comedian walked away with Outstanding Variety Talk Series Award for his show "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver", but he wasn't really excited about it because of Beyonce Knowles.

Oliver was super bummed that Queen Bey wasn't at the event. The singer, whose visual album "Lemonade" was nominated in the Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special category, was expected to be part of the ceremony and sit in front of the talk show host before she chose not to show up for some unclear reason.

"I thought Beyonce was going to be here, and I saw a seating chart, and I was to be sitting two rows behind her," Oliver told press backstage at the Emmys. "So all I've really been thinking about for the last 48 hours is how I'm going to get to stare at Beyonce's head for four hours, and she hasn't turned up."

He then looked at the Emmy in his hand as he said, "So this is nice. But the evening generally has a sense of loss to it. I was going to just stare at the back of her head and experience happiness in a form I probably haven't felt before."

However, Oliver realized that Bey's absence was probably a good thing, since she lost the award to Thomas Kail and Alex Rudzinski for their "Grease Live". "But probably wisely for Yonce, she's given this evening a pass," he said.
