It didn't take long for "Black Lightning" to find a home after being shopped around to networks. FOX has just secured the TV series based on DC superhero comic book. According to Entertainment Weekly, the project has got a pilot production commitment from the network.

Greg Berlanti, the producer of various DC TV series like "Arrow", "The Flash", "Supergirl" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" is shepherding the show. The script is written by husband-and-wife duo Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil ("The Game", "Being Mary Jane").

The story centers on Jefferson Pierce who is forced to come out of his retirement as a vigilante due to a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang. It follows Marvel's Netflix series "Luke Cage" as black superhero series, but actually will be the first on traditional TV.
