'Empire' Season 3 Clip: Cookie Is Rude to Taye Diggs' Angelo at Their First Meeting
TV

No sparks fly during Cookie's first encounter with the politician, but they are definitely going to be drawn closer to each other later in the third season.

AceShowbiz - Meet Taye Diggs' Angelo Dubois, Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) new love interest in season 3 of "Empire". A new clip from the upcoming installment has made its way out via EW, highlighting their first encounter.

In the video, Angelo stops Cookie and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) who are about to leave as she reprimands her son about his recent decisions and reminds him that he should be in the studio instead of attending a summit. Angelo tells Jamal that he may disappoint his fans if he skips the event, so Jamal promises that he'll figure out his schedule, but Cookie is not pleased and insists that they need to leave soon.

"Why you gotta be so rude," Jamal speaks softly to his mother. "I don't trust polite people, stupid," Cookie says.

Henson recently told EW about Cookie's relationship with Angelo, "People are gonna find out Cookie isn't from [the wrong] side of the tracks." Diggs also teased, "[Cookie] had an opportunity to be with an outstanding young man when she was younger and she chose Lucious (Terrence Howard), so I think that plays a part in her wondering if she has another chance to make a better choice."

The third season of "Empire" premieres on Wednesday, September 21 at 9 P.M. ET on FOX. Guest stars this season also include Mariah Carey and French Montana.
