After Vin Diesel shared the first footage of the long-awaited "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage", Paramount Pictures has released first teaser trailer for the film. The new video shows Diesel's titular character back in action for the third installment of the "XXX" film series with plenty of "guns, girls and global domination."

The video opens with Samuel L. Jackson's Augustus Gibbons saying that he doesn't feel safe in today's world. He explains in voiceover, "The world has changed. The war we're fighting today needs a different kind of soldier."

"We need people with the skills and the attitudes to take on threats that we don't even know exist," Gibbons continues as Xander is seen skateboarding on the side of a moving vehicle and skiing through a jungle. Xander is hired by Gibbons as a new government operative. Gibbons says, "Kick some ass, and try to look dope while you do it." Xander says with a grin, "I can definitely make that work."

The film centers on an extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage who is coming out of self-imposed exile. He is on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.

Directed by D.J. Caruso, the film also stars martial artists Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa, MMA fighter Conor McGregor, and "Game of Thrones" star Rory McCaan. The female cast members include Nina Dobrev, Toni Collette, Ruby Rose and Deepika Padukone. "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage" will hit U.S. theaters on January 20, 2017.
