Lady GaGa fans were shocked with news of her split with Taylor Kinney which surfaced on early Tuesday, July 19. But you should not worry too much as the singer herself has stated that, instead of breaking up, they're just "taking a break."
The 30-year-old wrote on Instagram along with a photo of her and Kinney wrapping their arms around each other's neck, "Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break."
"We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared," she added. "Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
An industry source previously told PEOPLE that the couple's work obligations "kept them apart a lot." Another source dished on, "She's working on an album, he's working on his show, they aren't in the same state, it was just hard." The second source added, "They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It's just been tough with the long distance."
GaGa and Kinney, who started dating in July 2011, got engaged in February 2015. After reports of their split hit the web, HollywoodLife.com claimed that the "Applause" singer's reluctance to get married was the reason behind their breakup.
"Their relationship was pretty strong and it worked out pretty well and then they got engaged. Things pretty much ended there," a source told the site. "Everything was going well but he wanted to get married, he wanted to start a family faster than she wanted to and that ended up causing the strain because they had different relationship goals."
