Paul Bettany took sides in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard drama. Bettany took it to Twitter to defend his "Mortdecai" co-star amid the domestic violence claims launched by Heard against the actor.

"Known Johnny Depp for years and through several relationships. He's the sweetest, kindest, gentlest man that I've ever known. Just saying," Bettany tweeted. "All I'm saying-Domestic violence is a serious allegation. Trial by twitter is unhelpful. Let the facts come out before rushing to judgment."

"Just because you get on well with someone, does not mean they are incapable of doing something horrific," a fan replied. But Bettany argued, "Well that might be true, but I probably have MORE insight than say... Uh... You... Or all the other piranhas on the internet."

"The Walking Dead" star Laurie Holden also weighed in on the matter. "I, for one, am going to see Johnny Depp's new movie. His personal life is just that. Personal. No one knows the real truth so just zip it," she tweeted before quickly adding, "To be clear: I am just saying DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS. Even a pic might not be telling the whole story...Goodnight twitter warriors!"
