The Netflix series is adding an actress of Asian descent after being slammed for casting a Caucasian for the title role.

AceShowbiz - Jessica Henwick is hopping from HBO's "Game of Thrones" to "Marvel's Iron Fist". The actress is cast as the female lead Colleen Wing, a martial arts expert who runs her own dojo and is an important ally to the titular character.

In the comic book, Wing specializes in swordsmanship and Japanese martial arts. The character was created in 1974 as one half the "Daughters of the Dragon" alongside Misty Knight. Besides partnering with Iron Fist, Wing is also an affiliate of Luke Cage.

On the Netflix series, Henwick joins Finn Jones who was already cast as the Iron Fist. Wing will help his alter ego Danny Rand as he returns to his life in New York after years of going missing. The official synopsis says Rand will fight "against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."

The show was previously slammed for casting a Caucasian actor to play Rand but Henwick's casting would help ease the fans' anger. Additionally, the show was auditioning Asian descent actors for the role of Shang-Chi, "Master of Kung Fu" and son to noted villain Fu Manchu.

No premiere date is announced yet.
