Actors have been found to portray two of the main four characters on "Archie" comics TV adaptation "Riverdale". Cole Sprouse, the one half of the Sprouse twins on Disney Channel's "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", is cast as Jughead Jones, while "The Kings of Summer" actress Lili Reinhart will play Betty Cooper.

"Thanks for being patient while I stepped away. I'm pleased to announce my return to acting. Catch me on Riverdale as [Jughead]," Sprouse tweeted along with a picture of him with photoshopped crown on his head. The character is Archie's former best friend who reportedly would be hearing impaired on the TV series. The comic books recently revealed him as asexual but it's not yet clear whether that would also translate into the show.

"Riverdale" is a one-hour drama based on the iconic Archie comic book characters. It follows Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends as they explore the surrealistic twists of small-town life, in addition to the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale's wholesome facade. It would also be a "bold, subversive take" on the love triangle among Archie, Betty and Veronica.

It was initially picked up by FOX before being moved to CW along with Greg Berlanti and his Berlanti Production banner. "Glee" scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is writing the pilot. Josie and the Pussycats and gay character Kevin will also be featured.
