Caitlyn Jenner Fires Back at Ricki Gervais' Golden Globes Jokes

The reality show star has a solution to make Gervais stop making fun of her transition.

AceShowbiz - Ricky Gervais came under fire for making a joke at Caitlyn Jenner's expense during the recent Golden Globe Awards. While many bashed him with hateful words, Jenner came up with a solution.

During the Television Critics Association panel for her show "I Am Cait" on Thursday, January 14, Jenner responded to Gervais' jokes for the first time. "Oh Ricky, I think what I'm gonna do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year, and we'll solve that problem," she said.

That would be difficult because members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association seemed to like Gervais being the host. The comedian has been hired for the post four times now, in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.

The monologue that offended Jenner and her fans concerns the "change". Gervais told the audience, "I've changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously - now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. What a year she's had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere." Taking a jab at Jenner's involvement in a deadly car accident last year, Gervais said, "She didn't do a lot for women drivers, but you can't have everything."

Gervais had warned via Twitter that he would offend some people. "Because I can see the future, I'd like to apologise now for the things I said at next week's Golden Globes. I was drunk & didn't give a f**k," he tweeted before the show. And after the show he tweeted, "In the future, everyone will be offended by me for 15 minutes. You have every right to be offended. Just don't cry when no one cares."

He was also unapologetic for the Jenner jokes, writing on Tuesday, "Suggesting a joke about Caitlin Jenner is automatically transphobic is like suggesting a joke about Bill Cosby is automatically racist." He added, "Hosting The Globes has made me want to do a new stand up show next year. Now THAT'S when you're allowed to be offended. You whiney c*nts :). Do people not realise that when they say they are offended by a joke it makes that joke even funnier for the rest of us."
