"The Flash" season 2 isn't over yet, but a juicy detail of the upcoming third season may have been revealed. Met at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg hinted that a villain could return for a bigger arc in season 3.

In an interview with Collider, Kreisberg said that Gorilla Grodd wouldn't be back later this season because they had a plan which involves a multi-episode arc for the character. "I would liken the Gorilla City thing to Ra's al Ghul. You know, you hear about 'the man from nanda part' in season 1, and 'the man who showed Malcolm the way,' and then you met Nyssa, then in season 3 you met Ra's. So, it's a long-term thing," he said.

Also at the TCAs, it was announced that Kevin Smith would direct an episode of "The Flash" in May. Kreisberg shared, "I literally got a phone call from his agent saying that Kevin Smith's favorite show is 'The Flash', and if was there an episode for him, and the answer was yes. It was really that simple. I didn't know him personally, I've just been such a huge fan of his work."

Despite Smith's close relationship with actor Mark Hamill, Kreisberg said that a Trickster return's "probably not happening" in the episode that Smith would direct.

"The Flash" will air its new episodes starting Tuesday, January 19 at 08:00 P.M. ET on The CW.
