Amy Schumer may be the actress who would always crack you up but when it comes to talking about her father, the comedienne tears up easily. During ABC's "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2015" interview, the "Trainwreck" star opened up about her dad Gordon Schumer who has been battling multiple sclerosis for years.

"He's not good," Schumer told Walters. "Some days he's really good and he's with it and we're joking around. And some days I go to visit my dad, and it's so painful. I can't believe it." The illness is disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord. It has no cure.

The 34-year-old actress was only 12 when her father was diagnosed with it. "He was in physical pain. That's when I kind of took the lead and took care of everybody in my family. I would keep them - I would keep everybody laughing. I'm the one who ties it all together," she said.

Schumer's character in "Trainwreck" has an elderly father who dies after hoarding drugs during his hospice care. She took the role personally, saying at the 2015 SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, "There is no denying that there is a lot of me in this movie. I, as they say, went there. It's really personal. It's about stuff I was struggling with and am constantly battling."

The episode of Barbara Walters special featuring Schumer will air on ABC Thursday, December 16 at 9:30 P.M. ET.
