The first trailer for Spike Lee's drama "Chi-Raq" has surfaced online. The two-minute video highlights a story about a woman who leads a sex strike to protest black-on-black violence in Chicago.

"Homicides in Chicago, Illinois, have surpassed the death toll or American special forces in Iraq," says someone in voiceover, opening the trailer. The video then continues showing Samuel L. Jackson's character dressed in orange suit and wielding a walking can as he says, "Welcome to Chi-Raq! Land of pain, misery and strife."

"Chi-Raq" is a contemporary adaptation of the Greek comedy play "Lysistrata" by Aristophanes. According to the official synopsis, "after the murder of a Child by a stray bullet, a group of women led by Lysistrata organize against the on-going violence in Chicago's Southside creating a movement that challenges the nature of race, sex and violence in America and around the world."

The movie also stars Nick Cannon, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, Michael B. Jordan, Teyonah Parris, D.B. Sweeney, Harry Lennix and Steve Harris. Lee also produces and wrote the script alongside Kevin Willmott. The drama is scheduled to be released in limited theaters in the U.S. on December 4.
