Adam reveals his band is not in negotiations to play the halftime show at the 2016 Super Bowl.

AceShowbiz - Adam Levine has debunked Maroon 5 Super Bowl rumors. During an interview with Howard Stern on his radio show on Tuesday, October 27, Adam revealed his band was not in negotiations to play the halftime show at the 2016 Super Bowl.

When Howard asked Adam about the circulating rumors, the band's frontman replied, "I don't know where that [rumor] came from." He continued, "I like the fact that we can talk about it, because I think the band would be thrilled to do it. As far as where the rumors came from, that had nothing to do with any real conversation."

Adam admitted that the band was "probably on a shortlist," but later clarified his statement, "We've been on a short list for a couple of years. [We] very actively want to play the Super Bowl."

Howard then asked Adam if CBS, the network airing the 2016 Super Bowl, would be hesitant to hire the band because he's on the hit NBC show "The Voice". "To be honest with you, I have no idea. I dont know what the motivation behind those decisions are other than they probably want to get the best person for the job."

E! News previously reported that Maroon 5 had "extensive calls" from the National Football League to play during halftime of the Super Bowl next year. The site went on saying that although the NFL also considered Bruno Mars and Coldplay, it chose Maroon 5 as the frontrunner.
