Ashley Benson has come under fire over her "Cecil the Lion" Halloween costume. The "Pretty Little Liars" actress uploaded on Instagram a picture of her wearing a gold jumpsuit complete with fur-trimmed hood and lion-like ears.

"Help! Can't decide on my Halloween costume this year! What do you guys think of this Cecil the lion costume?" she initially wrote. As criticisms flooded her way, she quickly edited the caption by removing the reference to the slain animal.

Cecil the Lion was killed for sport in Zimbabwe by an American dentist named Walter Palmer in July, causing outcry. In his letter to his patients, the dentist defended himself, "I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt."
