AceShowbiz - A few days ago, Joe Jonas took to Instagram to introduce his new band DNCE. The former Disney star then premiered the group's debut single, an uptempo pop/disco track titled "Cake by the Ocean", via New York's Z100 on Monday, September 14.
Earlier on Monday, Jonas let fans hear a snippet of the track in an Instagram post which also features what looks like a preview of its accompanying music video. In the short clip, Jonas and his new bandmates are seen performing the song in front of a small crowd.
Jonas serves as the lead vocalist of DNCE that he's formed with Semi Precious Weapons bassist Cole Whittle, former Jonas Brothers drummer Jack Lawless and guitarist JinJoo Lee who has played for the likes of Jordin Sparks, Charli XCX and Cee-Lo Green.
According to Complex, "Cake by the Ocean" is a collaboration with Justin Tranter who most recently worked on Hailee Steinfeld's "Love Myself" and Selena Gomez's "Good for You", Robin Fredrikson and Mattias Larsson.
The song came after Jonas overheard producers Fredrikson and Larsson saying they wanted to get some cake by the ocean while they actually meant the drink Sex on the Beach.
