AceShowbiz - Matt Damon thinks Jason Bourne is superior to Batman. The actor joked that his character in the "Bourne" series could take down his best friend Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader easily.
"Jason Bourne would kick the s**t out of Batman - absolutely!" Damon said with a smile during a press release for "The Martian" at the Toronto International Film Festival. He added, "Batman's gotta take on Superman first. If he could beat him then maybe he could take on Jason Bourne."
Speaking of the DC Comics superhero, Damon admitted that he had not heard Affleck's version of Batman voice. "I haven't been like, 'Come on, dude, just do it once'. I haven't asked him to talk Batman yet, but now maybe I will," he said with a laugh.
Damon was one of the people Affleck consulted before taking the role. "I talked to him about it. It was a big decision," Damon recalled. "He knew what the stakes were. Once he was able to get Chris Terrio to write the script, I think that made the decision for him. Chris is a fantastic writer and Ben really liked Zack [Snyder], who's directing, and it was like, 'well, I've got all the pieces that are necessary.' "
Asked whether he would play superheroes himself, Damon said, "I think they're kind of out of superheroes. Ben's going to be like the sixth or seventh Batman, so I don't think there's really any left. So I'm good. Jason Bourne is my superhero."
By chance, Chris Evans recently opined that Bourne was a superhero. "In terms of superhero in general, existing properties that we know and love, it's going to be a matter of the tone they strike. You could look at Jason Bourne as a superhero," Evans responded to Steven Spielberg's view on superheroes flicks.
