During her appearance on BBC Radio 1's 'Live Lounge', the former Disney darling also performed a stripped-down version of her own hit 'Cool for the Summer'.

AceShowbiz - While promoting her newest single "Cool for the Summer" and its parent album "Confident" in the U.K., Demi Lovato stopped by BBC Radio 1's "Live Lounge" on Wednesday, September 9. Like other guests who have visited the show, she's asked to cover one song by another artist and she chose to perform Hozier's breakout hit "Take Me to Church".

Before starting the song, Lovato recalled the moment she first heard it on radio. "I was like, 'Wow, this is on pop radio.' And it's not your typical pop song - in fact, it doesn't sound like a pop song, but the term 'pop' means popular, so it is a pop song," she shared. "I think I even tweeted, 'Thank God that somebody put this on the radio, because this is incredible music.' "

For her performance, she was joined by a couple of backing vocalists and a band that included some guys playing guitar, keyboard and maracas. The 23-year-old singer showed off her signature powerful vocals over the haunting instrumentals.

It didn't take Hozier too long to find Lovato's cover of his song. The Irish rocker, who clearly loved what he heard, shared a video of her performance with his Twitter followers and thanked the former Disney princess in the caption, saying, "Hey! Huge thank you to @ddlovato for doing this gorgeous cover of TMTC in the #LiveLounge today. Very Flattered."

During her appearance on "Live Lounge", Lovato also treated listeners to a stripped-down version of "Cool for the Summer". She's expected to release her next full-length next month.
