Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) is back with a new attitude in the first promo for "The Good Wife" season 7. "For the first time in my life, I don't have to answer to anyone," she says in the video.
While a previously released photo hinted that she would support her estranged husband Peter's (Chris Noth) vice presidential campaign, the new sneak peek suggests otherwise. "Are you saying you wouldn't be involved in your husband's campaign?" asks Margo Martindale's Willa Eastman, a campaign operative who helps Peter with his vice presidential run. Alicia simply replies, "Yes!"
Also showing a new side, Eli Gold (Alan Cumming) now embraces smoothies, which he didn't drink before. "I'm changing like a butterfly," he says. In another scene, Eli is seen telling Peter that he just made his worst enemy.
Michael J. Fox's Louis Canning also returns and Alicia calls her "the devil," though the two still look friendly.
"The Good Wife" returns Sunday, October 4 at 9 P.M. on CBS. Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins the cast as a "calm, experienced hourly investigator" whom Alicia hires as she is once again starting her own law firm.
Co-creator Robert King recently teased a potential romance between Alicia and Morgan's character. He said the chemistry between the two would be "tactile," but "the Catholic-girl part of" Alicia would be hesitant to embrace such an extramarital affair.
