Despite circulating rumors, Robert Pattinson did not skip Venice Film Festival to avoid his ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart. Page Six previously claimed that Robert "never planned on coming" to the movie festival because Kristen was also there to promote her own movie "Equals".
Robert was initially confirmed to attend the premiere of "The Childhood of a Leader" on Saturday, September 5 before he had to back out due to film commitments for "The Lost City of Z" in Belfast. According to the site, that was just an "excuse" because FKA twigs's boyfriend didn't want stories to be about him and Kristen emerged.
A "so-called" spy told the site, "He didn't want the story to be all about how he and Kristen were nearly bumping into each other. Venice is very small … and there are only so many parties and hotels."
Gossip Cop was quick to come up with a denial to the rumor though. According to the site, it was true that Robert's filming schedule prevented him to attend "The Childhood of a Leader" premiere. He also skipped "Life" premiere at Deauville American Film Festival on Monday, September 7. The site cited its own source as claiming that outlets like Page Six were trying to blame Robert's absence from Venice on Kristen to "create drama when there is none."
